Cultural relations between Tajikistan and Islamic Republic of Iran have  always been stable and the cooperations acomplished are the evidence of excellent relations between two countries. This bond reached to a high point after opening the embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Tajikistan's capital city in 1991.

Cooperation in fields of culture and science between Tajikistan and Iran has been one of the outstanding pages in history of their relations. Exchange of scientists, teachers and students as well as developing cultural and muscial programs and participating in cultural and scientific conferences are major instances of the relations between two countries. Cooperation between two ministries  of culture  initiated during visit of Tajikistan delegation to Iran in 2007 had a great impact on developing the relations between two countries.

Organizing cultural weeks of the two countries within the past year, participation of artists and actors of the two countries at film festivals, production of joint movies (including movie-serial “Shukrona”), winning  awards at "Fajr" theater festival   “Rustam and Suhrob” play), winning movie awards at “Fajr” Film festival (”Kiyomi Ryz” movie directed by Nosir Saidov), participation of scientists and writers at annual Tehran international Book fair, exchange of knowledge between the two countries, publication of bilingual books of Tajik and Iranian authors in Cyrillic and Persian in both countries and participation of Tajik authors at First "ECO Poetry Night" held in Tehran are major instances of collaborations between the two countries. Movie-serial “Shukrona”, produced and directed by the Iranian party in 2007 with participation of Tajik actors filmed in two countries, was a major step towards strengthening the relations between the two nations.

Literary meetings were held in contribution to 17th anniversary of Tajikistan’s Independence and 1150th Birthday of founder of Tajik-Persian literature, Abu Abdullo Rudaki, in Tajikistan Embassy in Tehran on 12th of October with participation of diplomatic delegates, international organizations, guests from Tajiksitan as well as cultural and scientific figures from Iran.

With initiative of  Tajiksitan Embassy in Islamic Republic of Iran and contributing to 70th anniversary of Tajik  author Loik Sherali, a literary meeting was held at  24th annual Tehran Book Fair  on 13th of May 2011.

On the basis of bilateral contracts between the two Ministries of Education, students from Tajikistan are studying at Iranian universities in cities of Tehran, Mashad, Ghazvin, Isfahan and Hamadon. Mostly students are being educated at sphere of literature. Also, some of them are studying at religious schools in cities of Qom, Gorgan and Zahedan.

For establishment of Tajik-Iranian school in Dushanbe, a building is under construction at present by financial support from Iranian Ministry of Education. Also 400 thousand books were contributed to Tajikistan schools by Iranian Ministry of Education.

Stable exchange of scientific delegations between the two countries has turned into a regular pattern. Numbers of Tajik scientist are continuing their PhD and M.A. courses at Iranian universities while more than 1300 Iranian students are studying for PhD and M.A degrees in Tajikistan universities as well.  Primary negotiations hve been made for opening two Iranian university branches in Tajikistan.

Considering the above, it can be concluded that the tree of relations between the two countries has turned into one  with lots of branches and leaves, growing and blooming more and more day by day. The main reasons of constructive relations are similar cultural and historical roots shared by the two countries.

As experience shows, the level of relations is set by intensity of cultural  cooperations between countries because these relations represent the real attitude of countries toward each other.
