Commemorative ceremony of Bobojon Ghafurov in Tehran

On 17 January of this year with the initiative of the Society for the Appreciation of Cultural works and dignitaries in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in Tehran, the commemorative ceremony of a Tajik politician and scientist, Tajik hero, Academician Babajon Ghafurov with the participation of the scientific and literary representatives, students and media of Iran was held.

After playing the national anthems of two countries, Hassan Bolkhari , President of the Society for the Appreciation of Cultural works and dignitaries spoke about the B. Ghafurov`s works, his role and services and noted that the Society on the occasion of the commemorative of Bobojon Ghafurov gathered the Articles of different Iranian and Tajik scientists and published them entitled " Biography and scientific and cultural services of Bobojon Ghafurov" Famous historian and orientalist  of Tajikistan".

Then, famous Iranian scientist, Dr. Mehdi Mohaghegh, Chairman of the board of the Directors of the Society for the Appreciation of Cultural works and dignitaries talked about his memories including getting to know and contact with B. Ghafurov, his position in the history of Tajik people and various aspects of his life and activities of Tajik scientist and politician.  

Also, at this conference, Gholamali Hadad Adel – the Head of the  Persian Language and Literature Academy of Iran, Ali Ashraf Mojtahed Shabestari- President of the Friendship Association of Iran- Tajikistan, Dr.Asghar Dadbeh – member of the board of the Directors of the Society for the Appreciation of Cultural works and dignitaries, Safar Abdullo – Tajik scientist with the residence in Kazakhsatn , member of the Persian Language and Literature Academy of Iran spoke about the  different aspects of life and activities of B. Ghafurov including his lasting effect – the book " Tajiks"( Tajikon), a poet Saidali Musavi Garmaroodi read his poem about Dushanbe.


Delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan in the Security Conference of Tehran

  On the eighth of January 2018 in Tehran, the second largest security conference in Tehran entitled "Regional Security in West Asia: Challenges and emerging trends" with the slogan "respect, trust, dialogue, mutual cooperation, security and collective progress" in the circle of three department (foreign policy and regional security, defense and security) and five panels with participation of more than 300 people from 49 countries were held .At that conference, the Tajikistan delegation led by the First Deputy Foreign Minister, Nizomuddin Zohidi .

 At the beginning of the Conference the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif spoke on the current situation in West Asia, the role of Syria and Iraq to destroy the terrorist organization "Islamic State" and reconstruction in post-conflict, challenges and threats to regional security, as well as ways resolved security crises in the region.

 Chairman of Tajikistan companied in Part II and Panel III of Conference entitled "The role of economic growth in the security of Western Asia" and delivered a speech, stressed the need to focus the attention on the causes and economic factors - social rise of terrorism in West and South Asia, pay more attention to the integration of countries and the implementation of regional initiatives to prevent the emergence of terrorism and extremism.

Tehran's security conference ended with the acceptance of a joint statement by the participants. 

Tajikistan, ECO Cultural Institute discuss cooperation

Issues related to cooperation in the field of culture within the framework of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Cultural Institute were discussed here yesterday at a meeting of Nizomiddin Zohidi, First Deputy Foreign Minister of Tajikistan, with Dr. Mehdi Mazaheri, Director of the ECO Cultural Institute, according to the Tajik MFA information department.  

The two, in particular, discussed the issues of holding events to honor known Tajik scholars and cultural figures, publishing articles by Tajik authorities in the Institute’s magazines as well as organizing various exhibitions.  

Zohidi and Mazaheri also exchanged views on ways to expand cultural exchange, the Tajik MFA information department said.  

Recall, the ECO Cultural Institute opened its representative office in Dushanbe in March 2010.  

ECO Cultural Institute (ECI) is affiliated with ECO and aims at fostering understanding and the preservation of the rich cultural heritage of its members through common projects in the field of the media, literature, art, philosophy, sport and education.

According to the Charter of ECO Cultural Institute (ECI), the institute has its headquarters in Tehran.  The Institute shall also have a branch (or coordination unit) in each Member State which will be established in accordance with the prevailing regulations of each Member State.  The branches shall function in close cooperation with the Headquarters and facilitate the implementation of the approved programs.
